Honoring Francie: Share the Love on Caring Classrooms

Back in March, I lost a wonderful friend who also happened to be the co-founder of the Caring Classrooms Community. Francie Kugelman and I started the Caring Classrooms giving page on DonorsChoose over 10 years ago, and she was instrumental to the success of this community. Inspired by Francie’s loving and giving spirit, members of the Caring Classrooms Community have helped raise over $1.2 million in funding for schools and classrooms since 2013!

Francie was an incredible woman and an inspiration to everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. To honor her memory and continue her legacy, the Caring Classrooms Community is hosting a special donation event on April 14th and 15th. We selected Honoring Francie: Share the Love as the event title because “share the love” was a phrase that Francie and I often included in our event titles. Sharing the love is exactly what Caring Classrooms donation contests are all about!

Not only was Francie a co-founder of Caring Classrooms, but she was also an amazing classroom teacher! To see what I mean, read the blog article she wrote several years ago titled Going Marbles for STEM Hands-on Learning. Because she loved actively engaging her students in the learning process, this event will feature active engagement projects. Examples include requests for science and math materials, books for literature circles, financial literacy resources, service project materials, art supplies, musical instruments, and so much more!

Honoring Francie Contest Details and Rules

This event is open to anyone who would like to honor Francie’s memory and help carry on her legacy. If you’d like to enter, follow the directions below.

1. The contest will take place on April 14th and April 15th 2024. The earlier you enter on April 14th, the better your chances of winning.
2. Before filling out the Rafflecopter entry form below, you must first donate to one or more projects on the Caring Classrooms giving page on April 14th or 15th. The larger your donation (up to $15) the greater your chances of winning one of the prizes. Donations larger than $15 would be greatly appreciated, but they won’t give you more chances of winning.
3. After you donate, fill out this Rafflecopter entry form. You’ll earn points for your donation amount, plus one bonus entry for helping to promote this contest, and another bonus for choosing your preferred prizes. (Note: The Rafflecopter form will only show one option because it’s the only required option. After you complete that entry, the other options will appear.)
4. All donations will be confirmed before winners are notified of their prizes. The total donation amount entered into Rafflecopter must match the actual donation amount on DonorsChoose.
5. You may only enter once, no matter how many times you donate.

How Winners Are Selected and Announced

Rafflecopter will be used throughout the contest to randomly choose the winners. The winners’ donation amounts will be verified on DonorsChoose before they are notified. Winners will be notified using the email address they entered in Rafflecopter. If the prize they selected is no longer available, they will be asked to choose one of the remaining prizes.

How to Fill Out the Rafflecopter Form

The Rafflecopter form is set up to ensure that larger donations (up to $15) result in more chances to win. There are 5 donation options, plus 2 bonus options, and each option is worth a specific number of points. Choose the option or options that represent your TOTAL donation amount. For example, if you donate $1, select the $1 option. If you donate $3, select the $3 option. If you donate $15, choose all 5 donation options to receive the maximum number of donation points. Everyone who enters may also choose the bonus options.
